Cottage industry that provides small but important streams of revenue for Bosnian families. 100% of the sale of these items goes back directly to the woman that made it. Scarves, dishcloths and bookmarkers, are but a few of the items we now offer for purchase. Each is hand-made in Bosnia. The sale of these items, many times, represents the main source of household income for a family.
This program has a great opportunity for expansion. As the demand for items increases more Bosnian women are able to offer much needed financial support to their families.
The Jericho Foundation conducts a Summer Exchange program that provides a trip to the U.S. for teens from Bosnia while West Michigan families experience the joy of serving as hosts.
Through generous donations, we have been able to serve as sponsors of an exchange program, which has allowed young Bosnian students the opportunity to experience life in the United States. This program provides a much needed break from the daily challenges of life in Bosnia. Upon departure, one student said, "Although I am going home to the same dark hole, I am going back a changed person. I had lost all hope; now I have hope." This program offers such an opportunity to make a difference, and through continued support the exchange program will continue to reach out to those in need.
